Innovative Solutions Workshop for Access to Justice at Kurukshetra University

New Delhi, March 21: An innovative solutions workshop aimed at enhancing access to justice will be held at Kurukshetra University on March 22, 2026, under the Tele-Law initiative. This regional conference and workshop, organized by the Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law and justice, will commence at 4:00 PM.

The workshop is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen access to justice through technology-based legal services and to promote informative discussions among key stakeholders. The event will begin with the arrival and welcome of dignitaries, followed by the flag-off of the Disha Awareness Van, symbolizing outreach and connection to the grassroots. A ceremonial lighting of the lamp will also take place.

A special highlight of the program will be the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram,” which will be performed by local artists, commemorating its historical and cultural significance in India’s freedom movement.

The Secretary of the Department of Justice will deliver a welcome address, presenting the context of the workshop. Following this, a session showcasing the progress of the Disha scheme in Haryana will feature direct interactions with Tele-Law panel lawyers, grassroots entrepreneurs, and beneficiaries, illustrating the impact of technology-based legal services at the community level.

The program will also include a segment on free legal services initiated by law colleges in Haryana, where faculty members and students will share their experiences in community legal service.

Additionally, five e-books on customary laws from India’s northeastern region will be formally launched during the event, contributing to the preservation and dissemination of indigenous legal knowledge. A documentary on the Disha scheme, highlighting its conception, implementation, and nationwide impact, will also be released.

The workshop will be addressed by Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Union Minister of Law and Justice (Independent Charge), and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who will share their insights on strengthening access to justice and the role of digital intervention in governance.

The event will conclude with the distribution of mementos, followed by a vote of thanks from the Joint Secretary and the national anthem.

Approximately 900 participants are expected to attend in person, including officials from the Punjab and Haryana High Courts, Haryana State Legal Services Authority, advocates from the Bar Associations of Punjab and Haryana High Courts, government lawyers, grassroots entrepreneurs from Common Service Centers (CSCs), Tele-Law panel lawyers, and faculty from various law universities. Additionally, several citizens and stakeholders from the Department of Justice will join the event virtually.

This regional conference and workshop, part of the Tele-Law program under the Disha scheme, is a significant component of the Government of India’s broader efforts to strengthen access to justice through awareness, capacity building, and technology-based service delivery. Such regional workshops are being organized across the country to engage state administrations and stakeholders, review implementation progress, and further strengthen the justice delivery system.

The workshop in Kurukshetra serves as an important platform for focused discussions aimed at enhancing the reach and effectiveness of Tele-Law and other initiatives related to access to justice.
