Udaipur, April 8: A new initiative aimed at increasing income through Agriculture has sparked hope in the tribal regions of Udaipur. Under the Parliamentary Cluster Development Project, a training program was held to educate farmers about the benefits of cultivating tuber crops and medicinal plants like white musli, enabling higher earnings from smaller land areas.
More than 40 farmers, particularly from the tribal community, including women, participated in this program organized by the Vidya Bhavan Agricultural Science Centre. MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat emphasized that in changing times, medicinal and high-value crops are becoming a strong alternative for sustainable income alongside traditional farming. He highlighted that farmers with limited resources can also achieve better earnings through these crops.
Emphasis on Self-Reliance through Government Schemes
Dr. Rawat encouraged farmers to take advantage of government schemes such as the Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM KUSUM scheme, and the “Ji Ram Ji” initiative. He noted that irrigation facilities are improving with solar energy, while new employment opportunities are being created at the rural level.
Focus on Women’s Participation and Technical Training
The program placed special emphasis on women’s empowerment, providing information on sewing training and self-reliance efforts. Experts offered detailed guidance on modern agricultural techniques, advanced seeds, organic farming, and ways to connect with markets.
