
Giridih, March 6: In Giridih, Jharkhand, angry residents staged a protest and blocked roads on Friday in response to the murder of a young man. Family members of the deceased, along with local residents, demanded the swift arrest of the culprits near the Hattiya Gate in the Hutti Bazaar area.
State Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the roadblock. He assured the family of justice and instructed the administration to ensure the prompt arrest of those responsible. Following discussions with the minister and officials, the protest was eventually called off.
The incident occurred in the Ravi Das Mohalla of the Hutti Bazaar area, where a dispute over DJ music during Holi celebrations escalated into a violent clash late Thursday night. During the altercation, 30-year-old Ajay Kumar Das was fatally stabbed, and three others sustained serious injuries.
Witnesses reported that a DJ was playing music as residents celebrated Holi when a quarrel broke out among some children. Seeing the situation escalate, Ajay Kumar Das and his friends attempted to intervene. However, Ravi Das, a local resident, arrived with some associates and allegedly attacked them with knives and razors.
All injured individuals were rushed to Giridih Sadar Hospital, where Ajay Kumar Das was pronounced dead. Rajesh Das, Pardoom Das, and Prem Das are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Local sources indicate that the main accused, Ravi Das, had familial ties with the deceased, and there had been prior tensions between them. Police officials arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing.
