
Mathura, March 22: Tension erupted in the Kosi police station area of Mathura following a tragic road accident that occurred on March 21. The police have swiftly acted by arresting 13 individuals involved in the unrest that followed the incident.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar reported that the accident resulted in the death of a local figure known as ‘Farsa Baba.’ The truck driver was also severely injured and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The police have registered a case and initiated legal proceedings regarding the accident.
In the aftermath, some anti-social elements spread misleading rumors on social media and at the local level, leading to an angry mob blocking the national highway. Protesters resorted to stone-pelting against police and vehicles. In response to the escalating situation, the police adopted a firm stance and filed serious charges against the rioters.
Based on CCTV footage, the police have arrested 13 individuals so far, while efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other culprits. Additionally, a person named Daksh Chaudhary, along with three accomplices, has been arrested for allegedly spreading rumors and obstructing government operations in the area.
The administration has implemented a sector scheme in the region, with police and magistrates patrolling continuously to maintain peace. The police have urged the public not to share any posts on social media without verifying facts and to disregard any rumors.
According to Mathura police, the unfortunate accident occurred in the Kosi Kalna area on Saturday morning, resulting in the death of Sant Chandra Shekhar, also known as ‘Farsa Baba.’ Investigations revealed that the container stopped by Farsa Baba was carrying grocery items, while the truck that collided with it was transporting wire. The police clarified that the incident is not related to cow slaughter or trafficking.
