Mumbai, March 22: Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ is breaking new records at the box office. The first part of the film had a successful run in theaters for a month. Given the love ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is receiving, it is not far-fetched to say that it might surpass the collection records of its predecessor.
As the film continues to generate buzz, a lesser-known fact has emerged: during the shooting of a particular scene, actors Arjun Rampal and Akshaye Khanna were seen crying uncontrollably. In ‘Dhurandhar’, Rampal plays Major Iqbal, a pivotal character in the ISI’s operations against India, while Khanna portrays a don from Lyari.
The film features a scene depicting the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, where the characters Rahman Dacoit and Major Iqbal celebrate, while Ranveer Singh’s character tries to contain his emotions. Immediately after filming this scene, both Rampal and Khanna broke down in tears, having felt the weight of the tragedy personally.
R. Madhavan, who plays Ajay Sanyal in the film, revealed that the atmosphere on set turned somber once the scene was cut, reflecting the emotional toll it took on everyone involved. He noted, “We are Indians, and we all feel connected to that tragedy in some way.” Clips from this interview have since gone viral on social media.
Creating ‘Dhurandhar’ was no easy task for the makers. Director Aditya Dhar spent two years on research alone, which also led to an increase in the film’s budget. Securing investors was challenging, but after three years of hard work, the film finally hit the screens. It has not only captured the hearts of audiences but also opened new avenues in filmmaking within Hindi cinema.
