New Delhi, March 20: The Delhi Assembly Speaker, Vijender Gupta, inaugurated a specialized AI-enabled chatbot named ‘Vidhan Saathi’ for its legislators on Thursday, making Delhi the first assembly in the country to introduce such a technology-driven facility.
Addressing the assembly members, Gupta noted that legislators often grapple with complex laws and policy issues within limited timeframes. The ‘Vidhan Saathi’, designed as a dedicated legislative research and support tool, aims to provide clarity, context, and reliable information to assist them, ensuring that every discussion in the house is informed, thoughtful, and objective.
He announced that the system would be implemented from the upcoming budget session, which begins on March 23. Gupta described this initiative as a decisive shift towards a data-driven, Technology-enabled legislative process.
The chatbot is designed to assist members with data-driven analyses and information on bills, acts, and policy issues. Members can also upload screenshots of bills or reports to receive immediate analysis and relevant insights, facilitating more informed and effective participation in legislative discussions.
Gupta emphasized that the primary goal is not just to provide access to documents but to aid members in analyzing complex issues and presenting well-considered, evidence-based arguments in the house.
Designed for ease of use within the assembly, ‘Vidhan Saathi’ is accessible via a dedicated QR code and a direct digital link at each member’s desk, eliminating the need for downloads or additional steps.
This facility is exclusively available to the 70 members of the assembly, ensuring a secure and institution-specific legislative support framework. ‘Vidhan Saathi’ is tailored specifically for the workings of the Delhi Assembly, based on processes, past debates, committee reports, and legislative records, ensuring that the information provided is relevant and institutionally sound.
