New Delhi, March 17: The Ministry of Defence is set to host a significant event named the ‘National Defence Industries Conclave 2026’. Scheduled for March 19 and 20 at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi, the conclave aims to promote the manufacturing of indigenous defense equipment.
This event will help establish a robust framework for producing defense equipment in India, with a particular focus on integrating small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) into the defense manufacturing sector.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the inauguration will be led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. This year’s theme revolves around ‘Advanced Manufacturing Technologies’, emphasizing new and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, 3D printing (additive manufacturing), and smart materials.
The government aims for India’s defense industry to progress not through traditional methods but by leveraging high-tech and indigenous technologies. The conclave will see participation from government officials, private companies, defense public sector undertakings (PSUs), startups, scientists, tech experts, and academics from higher educational institutions and universities.
Discussions will focus on how India can rapidly achieve self-reliance in the defense sector and strengthen its global position. A major exhibition will showcase new technologies and products from both Indian and international companies.
Additionally, new challenges will be launched for startups and MSMEs to bring forth innovative ideas and solutions for the defense sector. The conclave serves as a platform for the government, industry, and technical experts to collaborate on accelerating, modernizing, and achieving self-reliance in India’s defense manufacturing.
