India, US Agree to Accelerate Trade Deal Talks

New Delhi, September 16 (Patrika English News): The Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday said trade talks between India and the United States concluded on a positive note, with both sides agreeing to intensify efforts towards finalising a mutually beneficial agreement at the earliest.

According to an official statement, a delegation from the Office of the United States Trade Representative, led by Chief Negotiator Brendan Lynch, visited India on September 16. The team held discussions with Indian officials headed by Rajesh Agarwal, Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce.

Talks focused on the proposed bilateral trade agreement as well as the overall India–US trade relationship. The ministry said deliberations were “positive and forward-looking,” and both countries acknowledged the enduring importance of bilateral trade.

The meeting lasted nearly seven hours and ended with a joint understanding to step up efforts for an early conclusion of the agreement.
