New Delhi, March 9: Ishaan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma have expressed their pride and gratitude towards their team’s spirit and unity following India’s historic victory in the T20 World Cup 2026. In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), both players opened up about their emotions and the journey leading to this remarkable achievement.
Kishan emphasized the significance of the win, noting that the host nation had never won this tournament before. “The host country has never won the World Cup. Here we are. We played with all our hearts. We worked hard throughout the tournament. We were in a great mood. We supported each other. We played exceptionally well, and credit goes to everyone involved, including the support staff and all those present with us. We are lifting the trophy, and we hope to do it again,” he stated in the BCCI TV video.
Abhishek Sharma described the World Cup victory as the best moment of his career, saying, “This is one of the best moments. It is the best moment.”
Kishan praised his teammate, highlighting the importance of camaraderie. “Look at this champion. It doesn’t matter if you don’t score runs; stay in a good mood. Even when he wasn’t scoring, he was always there to support others.”
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the tournament, Abhishek credited the team’s environment and support staff for helping him stay confident. “If you had told me we were winning the cup and taking the last wicket, I would have been very troubled during those days because it wasn’t easy for me. I feel proud of the team. The way the coaches and everyone treated me, the way they helped me, I never felt alone. You never feel that way in a team. When you aren’t scoring well, you might have performed well all year, and then suddenly… I am very proud of the team.”
