Greater Noida, March 16: A significant uproar erupted among lawyers at the district court in Surajpur, Greater Noida, on Monday, following an alleged assault on one of their colleagues. A large number of lawyers gathered within the court premises to protest against the police, leading to heightened tensions as they surrounded police personnel present at the site, forcing them to leave the area.
Witnesses reported that the agitated lawyers prevented police officers from entering the court premises. Several videos of the incident have rapidly gone viral on social media, showing police officers exiting the court grounds. The incident has sparked considerable discussion, with lawyers expressing deep anger over the alleged assault on their colleague.
The lawyers accused the police of misconduct and physical assault against their fellow member, prompting a united call for action from the entire bar association. They have stated that their protest will continue until strict action is taken against the responsible police officers. In response to the incident, the administration has already suspended four police personnel involved.
However, the lawyers insist that mere suspension is insufficient and demand a thorough and impartial investigation, along with stringent legal action against the culprits. In protest of the incident, all lawyers at the Surajpur district court have gone on strike, which is likely to affect the hearings of several cases.
The lawyers have made it clear that they will not return to work until justice is served. Manoj Bhati, president of the bar association, also commented on the situation, stating that the entire bar has strongly condemned the assault on their colleague. He clarified that the bar association does not support any form of disturbance or chaos within the court premises.
Bhati further mentioned that the process for suspending the guilty police officers has already begun and emphasized that any unrest is unwarranted. He assured that an FIR will be filed through the court, adhering to judicial processes, to seek legal justice in this matter.
