Mysterious Illness Claims Lives of Five Children in Salumber

Udaipur, April 6: A wave of panic has swept through the villages of Ghata and Lalapura in the Salumber district after the tragic deaths of five children aged between 2 to 4 years within just five days. The children exhibited similar symptoms, including high fever, seizures, and vomiting, leading to a rapid decline in their health and subsequent fatalities.

The deceased children are identified as Deepak, Seema, Lakshman, Kajal, and Rahul. According to their families, all the children suddenly developed high fevers and experienced seizures. They were initially treated at a local hospital before being referred to larger medical facilities; however, some succumbed to their conditions en route, while others passed away during treatment.

In response to this alarming situation, both the administration and health department teams have arrived at the scene. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and medical officials have initiated a survey in the villages and collected blood samples. Health workers are conducting door-to-door checks on children.

Health officials have stated that the cause of the illness remains unclear. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether it is a viral infection, encephalitis, or a seasonal illness. Villagers have been advised to remain vigilant and seek immediate medical attention if any symptoms appear.
