Udaipur, April 7: In a sharp rebuttal to the ongoing factionalism within the Udaipur BJP, Governor Gulabchand Kataria addressed a decade-old video controversy involving former MLA Dharm Narayan Joshi. He emphasized the need for courage to stand among the public, stating, “Those who abandon the field after contesting an election should demonstrate their resolve to stand with the people.”
Kataria remarked that anyone serving the public must possess the courage to remain with them under all circumstances. He added, “Their pain lies elsewhere, yet they speak of it here. Time is the only remedy for such ailments, which can heal even the strongest.”
“The Public Will Judge Me”
Regarding his performance, Kataria asserted that the public would be his judge. He mentioned that despite residing in Chandigarh, he remains actively engaged with the community and can provide a comprehensive record of his work.
“I have prepared a detailed account of my visits in January, February, and March. Anyone can ask 20 people; I am consistently among the public,” he stated.
“I Have 50 Years of Service to Account For”
Kataria highlighted his long-standing commitment to public service over the past 40-50 years, asserting that his work defines his identity. He noted, “I do not come from a wealthy background, nor do I possess significant assets. I am an ordinary person, yet no one has been able to tarnish my reputation.”
On Social Media Comments: ‘Nothing Serious’
Responding to comments made on social media by former MLA Joshi and his supporters, as well as a letter sent to the President, Kataria stated he did not take them seriously. He remarked, “I do not criticize anyone, but if someone has an issue, they should express it openly; solutions can be found.”
“Winning and Losing is Part of Politics”
In conclusion, Kataria acknowledged that winning and losing are normal in politics, but abandoning the field is not appropriate. He shared his own experiences of losing elections but emphasized the importance of continuing the struggle. He expressed confidence that his connection and service to the public would persist even after his term ends.
Background of the Controversy
