Netajis Missing Cap Found, Authenticity Under Question

New Delhi, March 13: The cap of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, which was reported missing from the Netaji Museum at the Red Fort, has been located, according to Chandrakumar Bose, the great-grandson of the iconic leader. However, he has raised concerns regarding its Authenticity and has called for a thorough verification to confirm whether it is indeed the original cap.

Chandrakumar Bose expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the social media platform X for taking immediate action on the matter. He noted that, due to the Prime Minister’s personal intervention, the cap has been returned to the Netaji and INA Museum. However, experts and individuals who have previously examined the cap have voiced doubts about its authenticity, suggesting it may not be the original.

Bose has made a humble request for proper certification to ascertain the cap’s true identity, emphasizing the importance of confirming whether it genuinely belonged to Netaji.

In response to the controversy, the Archaeological Survey of India issued a statement on Friday, clarifying that the original cap was temporarily removed from the Red Fort for an exhibition during the Parakram Diwas celebrations from January 19 to 25, 2026. Upon its return, the cap was placed in a secure location due to a malfunction with the lock, which has since been repaired, allowing the cap to be displayed again.

The issue of the cap’s disappearance first came to light on March 10 when lawyer Naveen Bamal visited the museum and discovered it was missing. He alleged on Thursday evening that officials were not providing any explanations regarding the cap’s status and urged the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter.
