New Delhi, April 4: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai participated in the self-enumeration process for the 2027 Census at his official residence in Delhi on Saturday. During this event, he urged citizens to fill out their self-enumeration forms.
In a post on the social media platform X, Nityanand Rai stated, “Under the first phase of the 2027 Census, the housing census, I filled out the self-enumeration form today at my official residence in Delhi. This process will further accelerate India’s development under the inspirational leadership of our esteemed Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, and will play a crucial role in effectively delivering government schemes to every citizen of the country.”
He added that the census has been initiated digitally for the first time under the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah, making it simpler and more effective.
Appealing to the public, he continued, “You can also self-enumerate according to your area by visiting the official portal. Enumerators will soon visit your homes. I request you to provide the necessary information and contribute significantly to this national duty.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had also completed their own enumeration. On Friday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla participated in the enumeration process as well.
The 2027 Census is set to be India’s first fully Digital Census, moving away from the traditional paper-based system that has been in place for over 150 years. This process is being conducted in two phases under the Census Act of 1948.
The first phase, known as House Listing and Housing Census (HLHC), focuses on collecting data related to housing conditions, household amenities, and properties. Citizens will need to answer 33 notified questions during this phase.
