Packers Set Viewership Records in Opening Weeks of 2025 NFL Season

Green Bay (Patrika English News): The Green Bay Packers have started the 2025 NFL season not only with back-to-back wins but also by helping broadcasters set new national viewership records in consecutive weeks.

Packers 2025 viewership records

According to CBS, the Packers’ Week 1 victory over the Detroit Lions drew nearly 24 million viewers — making it the network’s most-watched Week 1 game since the NFL returned to CBS in 1998. It was also the most streamed Week 1 game ever on Paramount+.

In Week 2, Amazon Prime Video reported that the Packers’ win over the Washington Commanders became the most-watched “Thursday Night Football” matchup since Amazon acquired the package in 2022. SPORTS Media Watch data showed the game averaged just under 18 million viewers and peaked at over 20 million, breaking the previous record set last year in a Packers-Lions clash.

However, experts note that these record-breaking ratings come with an important context. Nielsen’s updated Big Data + Panel methodology, introduced this year, now measures data from over 75 million connected devices in addition to 40,000 traditional television households. The expansion of out-of-home viewing measurements has further boosted numbers, making comparisons with past seasons less straightforward.

Despite the changes, there is no denying the Packers’ national appeal. With high-profile games, prime-time slots, and the buzz around star additions like Micah Parsons, the team has once again established itself as a major TV draw.
