Shocking Suicide of Police Constable in Amravati

Amravati, March 26: A shocking incident has emerged from Amravati, Maharashtra, where police constable Vijay Dilip Nagapure, aged 35, tragically took his own life using his service pistol on Thursday morning. Nagapure was part of the Quick Response Team (QRT) Super Rapid Squad.

Originally from Dhamangaon Katpur in Morshi taluka, Nagapure was residing in Amravati and had been serving in the police department since the 2014 batch. He was unmarried.

According to officials, Nagapure was on duty on Wednesday night. After completing his shift around 9 AM on March 26, he remained at the QRT office located within the police commissionerate premises, where he took this drastic step. The news of his suicide sent shockwaves through the police department.

The incident was first reported by his colleague, constable Akash Dilip Ambarte, who promptly informed senior officials. Police Commissioner Rakesh Ola, DCP Ganesh Shinde, and Shyam Ghughe arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

A forensic team and dog squad were immediately called in for investigation. Initial findings revealed a bullet recovered from the scene. The body has been sent to the district general hospital for post-mortem.

Police sources indicated that just before the incident, Nagapure had called his brother, Shyam Nagapure, who is also employed in the city police. During the conversation, he mentioned, “There is a crowd at the petrol pump; I will fill up and come home.” This is now considered his last conversation.

As of now, the exact reason behind the suicide remains unclear, and the police are investigating all possible angles.
