New Delhi, September 12 (Patrika English News): Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially discontinued the Katana superbike from its domestic lineup, three years after its launch in 2022. The litre-class retro-inspired model, priced at ?13.61 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), failed to generate significant sales during its tenure in the Indian market.

The Katana paid homage to Suzuki’s iconic 1980s design, featuring a half fairing, square headlamp, and gold alloy wheels. It was powered by a 999cc inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine borrowed from the GSX-S1000, tuned to deliver 150 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 106 Nm of torque at 9,250 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle was equipped with advanced electronic features such as Suzuki Traction Control System with five modes, Ride-by-Wire, Low RPM Assist, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), and Easy Start System.
With its exit, the Katana becomes a rare sight on Indian roads, especially as it was Suzuki’s only litre-class motorcycle on sale in the country. Competing models like the Honda CB1000 Hornet SP, Kawasaki Z900, and Ducati Monster continue to be available. Suzuki’s big bike portfolio in India will now consist of the Hayabusa, GSX-8R, and V-Strom 800DE.
