Abu Dhabi, September 12 (Patrika English News): After Bangladesh’s seven-wicket win against Hong Kong on Thursday, middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy made it clear that the team’s focus was only on winning the match, not on boosting the run rate.

“We could have finished the game earlier, but understanding the situation, we chose to play safe,” Hridoy said. “Our mindset is always about winning. We didn’t want the match to slip out of our hands.”
He admitted that his batting was not up to expectations. “We tried to wrap it up quickly, but I wasn’t connecting the ball well. The result matters more than finishing an over or two early,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Hridoy stressed that Bangladesh will prioritise solid wins over net run rate. “Our target is to beat Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. At this stage, partnerships and stability are more important than worrying about run rate,” he added.
On facing Hong Kong, Hridoy noted, “In T20 cricket, any team can cause an upset. Teams like Hong Kong are unpredictable, which makes things tricky. The ball was holding on the surface, but we adapted well and got the win.”
