Boston, September 13 (Patrika English News): Aaron Judge homered early and Luis Gil delivered six no-hit innings as the New York Yankees opened their series at Fenway Park with a 4-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.

Judge wasted no time making an impact, blasting a first-inning homer over the Green Monster to give New York a quick lead. The long ball was his first after passing Joe DiMaggio on the Yankees’ all-time home run list.
The Yankees added another run in the third when Judge drew a walk, advanced on catcher’s interference, and scored on a Cody Bellinger RBI single. In the sixth, José Caballero’s hustle on the basepaths set up a run on Ryan McMahon’s ground ball, before Ben Rice added another RBI single for a 4-0 cushion.
Gil (8-7) walked four and struck out four but allowed no hits in his six innings, throwing 90 pitches before giving way to the bullpen. Fernando Cruz lost the combined no-hit bid in the seventh when Nate Eaton doubled off the Green Monster, driving in Boston’s only run.
From there, Devin Williams worked a scoreless eighth, and closer David Bednar shut the door in the ninth to secure the victory.
The win gave the Yankees breathing room over their rivals in the AL East race, even as Toronto also won to keep New York from gaining ground on Baltimore.
