Eight Cricketers Dropped From BPL Auction Over Fixing Probe

Dhaka, 29 November 2025 . The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has excluded eight cricketers from the final auction draft for the upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) following their alleged involvement in last season’s fixing case. The action has been taken on the basis of a report submitted by the BCB’s Integrity Unit.

Earlier, BPL Governing Council member and current BCB Vice-President Shakhawat Hossain had stated in an interview that tainted players would not be included in the final draft list to ensure the upcoming tournament remains free from any fixing controversy.

According to the latest list sent to franchises and published on the BCB website on Sunday, at least eight players have been removed from the draft. The names include Alex Marshall, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Mosaddek Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Alauddin Babu, Sunzamul Islam, Mizanur Rahman and Nihaduzzaman Munir Hasan Khan. These players were found in the “red flag zone” due to their activities linked to match-fixing during the previous BPL season.

An official said, “As per the Integrity Unit’s report, these players have been removed from the list as they were found in the red flag zone. We cannot share further details at this stage.”

This decision follows a 900-page report submitted by a three-member independent investigation committee formed after large-scale fixing allegations surfaced during the previous BPL season. It is learnt that the committee identified at least 18 to 19 individuals, including 8 to 10 players, who were suspected of being involved in fixing at various levels during the last edition of the tournament.
