Supreme Court’s Verdict on Ajmer Dargah Praised by Salman Chishti as a Milestone for Harmony

Ajmer, January 5 – Haji Syed Salman Chishti, Chairman of the Chishti Foundation, expressed his happiness over the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss the petition seeking to ban Prime Minister Narendra Modi from offering a chadar at Ajmer Sharif. He stated that such petitions, which spread hatred without reason, were rightly rejected by the court.

In a conversation from Ajmer, Salman Chishti first extended his warm wishes to the nation for the New Year 2026. He described the Supreme Court’s recent ruling as historic, emphasizing the message of peace promoted during the annual Urs festival, which witnessed the participation of nearly one million devotees. He acknowledged the presence of Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, who also offered a chadar. According to him, the Central Government, the Cabinet, the Ministry of Minority Affairs, and the Prime Minister collectively conveyed a spiritual message highlighting India’s rich spiritual heritage. Chishti extended gratitude to the Supreme Court for discarding the misleading petition aimed at disrupting this sacred tradition.

Salman Chishti further remarked that Ajmer Sharif Dargah honors the saint’s legacy and praised the court for upholding the voice of the Indian people. During the Urs, followers from all religious communities gathered, with dignitaries presenting the chadar in a spirit of respect and unity. He appealed to investigative agencies to take stringent action against anti-social elements who misuse the judiciary in attempts to create unrest in the country. He demanded thorough probes into their funding sources and support networks.

He highlighted that Ajmer Sharif Dargah is purely a spiritual sanctuary where people from diverse faiths come together in love and harmony. All Prime Ministers of India have historically sent messages of peace from here. Continuing this tradition, since 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has regularly sent a chadar to the dargah as a symbol of peace. The recent petition filed to block this gesture was decisively rejected by the Supreme Court, reinforcing that there is no place for hatred in the nation.
