PM Modi Stresses Ethical Use of AI at CEO Roundtable

New Delhi, 29 January: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level discussion on Thursday with CEOs and experts working in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg.

The meeting, organised ahead of the upcoming India AI Impact Summit in February, aimed to promote strategic collaboration, showcase AI innovations, and accelerate the goals of India’s AI mission. During the talks, the CEOs expressed strong support for the goal of making India self-reliant in AI technology and appreciated the government’s efforts and resources dedicated to establishing India as a global leader in AI.

Prime Minister Modi emphasised the need to adopt new technology across all sectors to contribute to national development. He urged the use of indigenous technology in key areas to strengthen India’s technological capabilities.

Speaking about the AI Impact Summit, the Prime Minister highlighted that individuals and companies should leverage the event to explore new opportunities and advance rapidly on the development path. He also cited the success of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) as a demonstration of technological strength that can be replicated in the AI domain.

The Prime Minister pointed out that India’s unique combination of scale, diversity, and democracy makes the world trust its digital infrastructure. He said India must not only create impact through its technology but also inspire the world. He called on CEOs and experts to help position India as a global hub for AI efforts.

Emphasising data security and democratisation of technology, Prime Minister Modi said India should work towards an AI ecosystem that is transparent, fair, and secure. He stressed that there should be no compromise on the ethical use of AI and underlined the importance of focusing on AI skill development and talent nurturing. He appealed that India’s AI ecosystem must reflect the nation’s character and values.

The roundtable included CEOs from leading AI companies such as Wipro, TCS, HCL Tech, Zoho Corporation, LTI Mindtree, Jio Platforms Limited, AdaniConneX, Nextra Data, and Netweb Technologies. Experts from IIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, and IIT Bombay also participated. Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were present during the discussions.
