Kamal Nath Alleges Conspiracy to Deprive Voters in Bhopal via Fake Applications

Bhopal, 29 January: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath has raised serious concerns over the Election Commission’s arrangements, alleging a conspiracy to snatch voter rights through fake applications.

Addressing the issue of fake applications filed for name deletion from the voter list in the capital city Bhopal, Kamal Nath said that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls is being misused to carry out fraud. Numerous cases have come to light in Madhya Pradesh where individuals have submitted Form Seven in the names of others to remove their names from the voter list.

He revealed that over nine thousand such cases have surfaced in Bhopal alone. Kamal Nath described these fake applications submitted through Form Seven as a well-planned conspiracy aimed at depriving Indian voters of their fundamental rights. Referring to the Election Commission’s system, he stated that Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who visit homes to verify voters, must ensure who actually resides there.

Further, he criticised the Election Commission for allowing non-government persons to file applications for name deletion, which has created a major problem for legitimate voters. Kamal Nath emphasised the urgent need to put an end to this plot to steal votes at all costs.

In fact, nearly nine thousand cases of fake applications seeking deletion of voters’ names have been reported in the capital. The administration has taken the matter seriously and announced an investigation. While the Congress has questioned the Election Commission over this issue, it has also attempted to corner the BJP on allegations of vote theft.
