Abu Dhabi, April 3: A missile interception in the Ajman area of Abu Dhabi on Friday resulted in debris falling and injuring 12 individuals, including five Indian citizens. The UAE’s air defense system successfully neutralized the missile, but damage was still incurred.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office stated on the social media platform ‘X’ that the debris caused minor to moderate injuries to six Nepalese and five Indian nationals, while one Nepalese citizen sustained serious injuries. The public has been urged to obtain information only from official sources and to avoid spreading rumors or unreliable information.
Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense intercepted 18 ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles, and 47 UAVs launched from Iran on the same day.
According to the statement, the UAE air defense has intercepted a total of 475 ballistic missiles, 23 cruise missiles, and 2,085 UAVs since the onset of Iranian attacks.
These attacks have resulted in the deaths of two armed forces members who were fulfilling their national duty, along with a Moroccan national contracted by the armed forces. Additionally, nine civilians from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Palestine, and India have also lost their lives.
A total of 203 individuals have been injured, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. The injured include citizens from the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Turkey, Iraq, Nepal, Jordan, Nigeria, Oman, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.
The UAE Ministry of Defense has expressed its readiness to address any threats and has vowed to counter any attempts aimed at undermining the UAE’s security to protect its sovereignty, safety, and stability, as well as to safeguard its national interests and capabilities.
