Tumakuru, April 1: President Droupadi Murmu attended the 119th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Sri Sri Shivakumar Mahaswamiji at the Sri Siddaganga Mutt in Tumakuru, Karnataka, on Wednesday.
During her address, the President remarked that saints like Shivakumar Swamiji embody the very soul of our society and nation. Though his physical presence departed in 2019, the spiritual legacy he left continues to nourish both society and the country. She highlighted that his life, dedicated to serving the poor and marginalized, is a prime example of expressing spirituality through welfare work.
President Murmu commended the Sri Siddaganga Mutt for carrying forward Swamiji’s noble legacy. She expressed her delight at the Mutt’s provision of education from primary school to higher education in engineering and management. Additionally, she noted that the Sri Siddaganga Hospital, established under Swamiji’s guidance, offers excellent healthcare services to the public.
She emphasized that the Mutt upholds and advances the age-old tradition of service and spirituality in contemporary times. The President stated that knowledge is highly valued in our tradition, serving as the foundation for personality development and character building. Education paves the way for self-reliance, and by providing education to marginalized communities and rural students, the Mutt is making an invaluable contribution to building an inclusive society.
The President pointed out that hard work, public service, and National service are interconnected. Spirituality provides a strong foundation for both public and national service. Karnataka stands as a remarkable example of public service, national service, spirituality, and modern progress, deserving praise for its hardworking and talented residents. She expressed confidence that the people of Karnataka will continue to play a leading role in nation-building.
