Patna, March 21: Political rhetoric is intensifying as elections have been announced in four states and one Union Territory, including Assam. Despite Priyanka Gandhi being appointed as the in-charge for Assam, several Congress leaders are reportedly leaving the party. In this context, Bihar’s Agriculture Minister and BJP leader Ramkripal Yadav targeted Congress during an interview on Saturday.
Yadav stated, “There is nothing left in Congress. The party is completely sunk. Congress is finished. In such a situation, no one will remain in Congress. Why would people risk their future? Congress workers and MLAs have become alert, which is why they are leaving the party.”
He also criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for announcing a monthly assistance of ₹1,700 for SC/ST women, questioning her timing and intentions. “Where has Mamata Banerjee been until now? Why does she remember SC/ST now? She has exploited the people and looted the poor. No matter what she says, people will not trust her anymore,” Yadav remarked.
On the other hand, RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari refuted claims regarding Congress leaders leaving the party despite Priyanka Gandhi’s leadership in the Assam elections. He said, “Who can stop those who want to leave? However, many good people are joining us, influenced by Congress’s policies. Those spreading negativity are baseless.”
The Election Commission announced elections in four states and one Union Territory during a press conference on March 15. Voting for West Bengal’s 294 assembly seats will take place in two phases on April 23 and 29, while Assam’s 126 seats will be contested in a single phase on April 9. Results from all states will be declared together on May 4.
