Mumbai, March 23: Veteran actress Zeenat Aman recently shared a heartfelt moment on social media, connecting with her fans over the beautiful sight of Olive Ridley Turtles hatching in Goa. The actress expressed her emotions after witnessing the newborn turtles making their way to the sea, an experience she described as unexpected and life-changing.
In her Instagram post, Aman recounted the serene atmosphere of the beach, with a gentle breeze and cool sand as the sun set. This poignant moment brought tears to her eyes as she observed the tiny turtles entering the world.
She revealed that just weeks prior, hundreds of female turtles had emerged from the ocean to lay their eggs on the beach. Under the moonlight, the eggs hatched, and members of the Goa Forest Department assisted the hatchlings by clearing sand and guiding them towards the sea.
Aman highlighted the harsh reality that only one in a thousand of these turtles survives, facing threats from pollution, fishing boats, and a deteriorating ecosystem.
In her post, she urged Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to take action against environmental threats in Goa, warning that this ‘paradise’ could be lost forever.
She connected this experience to the resilience of the Earth and the age-old wisdom of nature. Aman acknowledged that while human suffering is prevalent, feeling emotional about the birth of turtles may seem odd, but it is this connection to nature and the compassion it fosters that can preserve humanity.
The actress expressed deep concern for Goa’s Environment, stating that the waters of rivers and the sea have become so polluted that swimming and fishing are no longer safe.
