Patna, March 24: Anant Singh, the legislator from the Mokama region of Bihar, was released from jail on Monday evening. Following his release, Singh proclaimed his innocence regarding the murder of Dularchand Yadav, asserting that he has been wrongfully implicated in the case. He reiterated his earlier statement on Tuesday, confirming that he will not contest in the upcoming elections.
On his way to Barahiya, Singh was accompanied by a convoy of vehicles. In a media interaction, he stated that he was approximately four kilometers away from the incident site at the time of the murder. “We are innocent; we have been framed in this case as part of a conspiracy,” he emphasized.
The murder of Dularchand Yadav occurred during last year’s Bihar Assembly elections, leading to Singh’s arrest. After being granted bail by the Patna High Court, he was released from jail after nearly four months. His release has sparked considerable enthusiasm among his supporters.
During the media interaction on Tuesday, Singh once again confirmed his decision not to contest elections. When asked if his son would run for office, he responded, “He will engage with the public and if he serves the people well, he may contest.” He acknowledged the excitement among his workers, stating that their enthusiasm would remain high.
Previously, when Singh had attended the Assembly vote while still incarcerated for the Rajya Sabha elections, he had announced that he would not participate in any future elections. “This is my last term. My children will take forward the political legacy,” he stated.
He also mentioned that he would not contest if Nitish Kumar is not in the political arena. Following Singh’s announcement of his decision not to run, political activity in Mokama has intensified, with discussions revolving around when Singh’s son might enter politics.
