Dimple Yadav Highlights Progress Against Naxalism in India

New Delhi, March 30: Dimple Yadav, a Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party, addressed the media on Monday regarding the issue of Naxalism in India. She expressed optimism about the decline of Naxalism, stating that if it is indeed diminishing, it is a positive development. However, she emphasized the need for the government to focus on the root causes of the issue.

Yadav remarked, “I want to say that the government must address the problems faced by the people.” She recalled that during the times of Naxalism in areas like Chandauli and Sonbhadra, leaders provided land and education to the locals, which ultimately contributed to the eradication of Naxalism in Uttar Pradesh. She insisted that similar facilities must be extended to the people in these regions.

This discussion comes in the wake of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s address in the Lok Sabha, where he spoke about ongoing efforts to rid the country of left-wing extremism. Shah expressed gratitude to the population living in the Red Corridor, which spans 12 states and covers 70 percent of the affected area.

He noted that Naxalism has nearly been eradicated from Bastar, highlighting initiatives to establish schools and ration shops in every village. Shah challenged critics who question the development of tribal communities, asking what they have done over the past 70 years. He pointed out that for 60 of those years, the Congress party was in power, and now it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government that is working towards tribal development.

Shah concluded by urging critics to reflect on their own record before blaming others for the lack of progress in tribal areas.
