Udaipur, April 15: Two separate road accidents in Udaipur and Dungarpur districts of Rajasthan claimed four lives on Tuesday, with several others sustaining serious injuries. The incidents, attributed to high speed and negligence, caused chaos on the highways and painted a grim picture in rural areas.
In Udaipur, a speeding truck collided violently with a car near the Malwa intersection on the Gogunda-Pindwara National Highway, resulting in the immediate deaths of two car occupants, Daya Bhatt (55) and Pushparaj (32). A 10-year-old child was also critically injured in the crash. Following the collision, a fast-moving trailer lost control and overturned, injuring its driver severely. The accident led to significant traffic congestion on the highway.
Emergency services, including the highway patrol team and local police from the Bekaria station, arrived promptly at the scene. The injured were rushed to MB Hospital in Udaipur, while the bodies of the deceased were sent to the mortuary. According to Station House Officer Uttam Singh Medatia, the deceased were a mother-son duo from Jodhpur, traveling to Jodhpur with the child.
In Dungarpur, a tragic head-on collision between a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle near the Simlawada Rajpur intersection resulted in the deaths of two young men, identified as Kishan and Praveen from Pardha Daryati. The impact was so severe that both succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The tractor driver, Mahavir Bairwa, suffered serious injuries and was referred to the district hospital after receiving initial treatment. Local residents assisted in transporting the injured to the hospital. The police have informed the families of the deceased and have initiated investigations into both incidents. These recurring road accidents highlight the persistent disregard for traffic regulations and the dangers of speeding.
