Udaipur, April 16: A new challenge has emerged for families planning weddings in Udaipur, as a shortage of LPG cylinders has caused significant concern. With the wedding season in full swing during the months of Vaishakh and Jyeshtha, many are finding it difficult to secure the necessary Gas Supply for their celebrations. Reports indicate that after offering the first wedding invitation to Lord Ganesha, families are now rushing to submit a second card at the District Supply Office (DSO) to ensure they can obtain gas cylinders for their events.
The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has severely impacted gas supplies, directly affecting wedding preparations. Long queues have been observed at the supply department located in the collectorate, where families are submitting applications along with their wedding invitations to request cylinders.
According to directives from the Food and Supply Department, it is mandatory for families to present their wedding invitations when applying for gas cylinders. The provision allows for a maximum of three commercial cylinders in urban areas and two in rural areas.
However, many residents are expressing that this allocation is insufficient for large wedding events. Harish Lohar from Hiranmagri stated, “How can we manage a wedding with just three cylinders? We need at least 8 to 10.” Similarly, Suresh Kumar from Ogna in the Jhadol area mentioned that his family is facing multiple weddings simultaneously, but the gas agency has directed them to complete the process through the supply department.
In light of the situation, the administration has urged families to explore alternative arrangements. They have suggested using coal and wood stoves if necessary, as well as limiting the number of guests and the menu for the meals. With the demand for gas rising and supply remaining limited, this LPG Crisis is becoming a new hurdle for families preparing for weddings.
