Udaipur, April 7: In a significant breakthrough in the high-profile silver heist at a jeweller’s shop in the Kurabad police station area, authorities have recovered 57 kilograms of silver. This recovery comes after recent arrests led to the discovery of an additional 27 kilograms, while 30 kilograms had already been retrieved earlier. The theft, executed by six criminals, involved the theft of a total of 100 kilograms of silver and 200 grams of gold.
According to police reports, approximately 43 kilograms of silver are still unaccounted for. Three suspects remain at large, and efforts to apprehend them are ongoing. Police teams are conducting raids at potential hideouts and are optimistic about capturing the fugitives soon.
Investigations revealed that the culprits employed cunning tactics during the heist. They disguised themselves in women’s clothing to avoid detection and conducted reconnaissance during the day, targeting deserted shops or homes at night.
Interestingly, the suspects did not use mobile phones for communication. Instead, they relied on coded bird calls to converse with one another. After the crime, they disposed of the CCTV hard disk and a motorcycle in a well, both of which have since been recovered by the police. The burglary occurred on the night of March 15 at Mohit Jewellers in Sadar Bazaar, taking advantage of the shop owner’s absence and the fact that the upstairs tenants were also away.
