Water Supply Projects to Alleviate Udaipurs Water Crisis

Udaipur, April 6: The Devas Third and Fourth projects are set to play a crucial role in providing a permanent solution to the city’s Drinking Water issues. Once completed, these projects will channel water directly to the Pichola Lake, helping to quench Udaipur’s thirst and maintain the lake’s water levels throughout the year.
As part of the effective implementation of the state government’s budget announcements, Devi Singh Beniwal, Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Division (Banswara), inspected the projects. He reviewed the progress of the tunnel construction from the Devas Third Dam to the Akodara Dam and provided necessary directions to the officials.
The Chief Engineer stated that a dam with a capacity of 703 MCF of water will be constructed near Nathiyathal village in Gogunda tehsil under the Devas Third project. Water will be transported through a 10.50 km long tunnel to the Akodara Dam (Devas Second), from where it will be directly released into Pichola Lake.
Additionally, the Devas Fourth project will see the construction of a dam with a capacity of 390 MCF near Ambawa village, which will be connected to the Devas Third project via a 4.15 km long tunnel.
Upon completion of these projects, the water levels of Udaipur’s major lakes—Pichola, Fatehsagar, and Swaroop Sagar—will remain balanced. This will not only provide a long-term solution to the drinking water crisis but also strengthen tourism activities. The inspection was attended by Superintending Engineer Manoj Jain, Assistant Engineer Kunal Meetwani, and other officials.
