
Kolkata, March 7: Dr. C.V. Anand Bose, the Governor of West Bengal, has resigned from his position, as announced on Friday. His Resignation letter was shared on the official social media handle of the Raj Bhavan, where he expressed his intention to conclude his tenure in Bengal and embark on a new mission in Kerala.
This resignation comes just ahead of the 2026 state assembly elections, stirring political discussions across the region.
Anand Bose stated, “My tenure in West Bengal is coming to an end. I am very grateful for the love and respect shown to me by the great people of Bengal. I am going to Kerala to work for a developed India.”
He further elaborated, “I will work under the guidance of national leadership to achieve the goals of this great mission and will strive to advance the cause of my beloved Kerala, which is my home state.”
Bose expressed his gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah, describing this new mission as a sacred duty. He also extended his best wishes to his successor, R.N. Ravi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, saying, “I wish my dear friend and renowned public administrator R.N. Ravi all the best, who will be my splendid successor. Tomorrow, I head towards fresh forests and pastures. Vande Mataram.”
A 1977 batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre, C.V. Anand Bose took office as the Governor of West Bengal in November 2022. His tenure has been marked by several controversies with the Mamata Banerjee government. His resignation has been sent to the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi and has been accepted.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed surprise at the resignation, posting on social media that the reasons behind it are unclear, but the possibility of political pressure from the Home Minister before the elections cannot be ruled out. She mentioned that the Centre informed her that R.N. Ravi would be the new governor, but no consultation was sought with her.
