Adulterated 76 thousand kg of foods seized in Rajasthan, 59 thousand kg of material destroyed

Jaipur, 7 October (Udaipur Kiran News). Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, action is being taken on a comprehensive level of action to provide pure foods to the common man by imposing effective prevention on adulteration. Also, to motivate the common man to adopt healthy food and healthy lifestyle, focus is being made on innovations like brick right Rajasthan and Niramaya Rajasthan. In this episode, in view of the festive season by the Food Safety Commissionerate, ‘not only lights, but every plate is also being conducted against adulteration on the safe theme. Under the campaign, more than 76 thousand kg of suspects or adulterated foods have been seized and more than 58 thousand kg of food items have been destroyed.

Gayatri Rathore, Principal Government Secretary, Medical and Health Department, said that in view of the festival of Deepawali, a special campaign has been conducted by the Food Safety Commissionerate to ensure the purity of food items. During this time special monitoring is being done on the manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials as well as other foods including sweets, ghee, oil, mawa, dairy products and food color.

Rathore said that a total of 2 thousand 835 inspections have been done in the campaign since September 01, including 2 thousand 556 enforcement checks. Also, 3 thousand 520 surveillance samples have also been visited, which is a remarkable achievement. He reported that the purpose of these action was to identify producers, wholesalers and sweets manufacturers who adulterate more demanded foods such as milk products, lost, edible oil or ghee.

Under the campaign, 76 thousand 283 kg suspects or adulterated foods have been seized so far and 58 thousand 780 kg adulterated food items have been destroyed. He informed that this campaign was part of the annual prevention action plan of the department, whose main goal is to provide pure and safe food items to consumers in the festive season.

It is noteworthy that if compared to the figures of 2024-25 last year, the department is ensuring action with more vigilance. A total of 39 thousand 245 actions (inspection, enforcement and monitoring) were done during the period last year, in which more than one lakh kg of unsafe food items were destroyed and 6.18 lakh kg was seized. Whereas in this financial year 2025-26, 20 thousand 503 actions have been recorded from April to August, out of which 57 thousand 260 kg of material has been destroyed and 78 thousand 463 kg has been seized.

Food safety Commissioner Dr. T. Shubhamangala said that the special attention of this campaign is on units that produce ghee, oil, khoya, food color and other raw materials, because the biggest risk of adulteration is at these levels. During the campaign, teams from all the districts of the state have collected samples. The licenses of the Indian Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) were examined and reform notices have been issued in where necessary. Also, legal action is being taken against those who violate the rules under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Dr. T. Shubhamangala said that the department has also organized workshops and counseling sessions for sweets manufacturers and food business operators, which have been given special guidance on cleanliness, storage and use of real raw materials. Apart from this, the department has appealed to the citizens to immediately inform the department about any suspect or unwavering food building or sales activity. Complaints can be lodged through FSSAI Food Safety Connect App or local control room numbers.
