Al Ain, UAE – Sept 10 (Patrika English News): Al Ain Zoo has achieved global recognition after being granted membership in the WORLD Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), placing it among leading institutions worldwide committed to wildlife conservation, animal welfare, sustainability, and environmental education.

Strengthening Abu Dhabi’s Vision
Waleed Saeed Al Saeedi, Managing Director of the Zoo & Aquarium Public Institution in Al Ain, said the milestone reflects Abu Dhabi’s 2030 vision to safeguard biodiversity and cultural heritage for future generations.
“This reinforces the Zoo’s mission to advance conservation through research, species care, and public awareness, while strengthening Abu Dhabi’s role as a global leader in sustainability and environmental stewardship,” Al Saeedi noted.
Collaboration and Best Practices
Eng. Ahmed Eisa Al Harrasi, Acting Director General of the Zoo & Aquarium Public Institution, called the achievement a proud milestone in the Zoo’s journey.
“WAZA is among the most respected international bodies supporting institutions dedicated to animal care, education, and conservation. This membership opens new opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and adopting best practices that will strengthen biodiversity protection worldwide,” Al Harrasi said.
He added that the milestone was made possible with the support of the community, partners, and staff, describing it as a motivation to further strengthen Al Ain Zoo’s global leadership in wildlife protection and sustainability.
A Year of International Recognition
This recognition marks the second major international accreditation for Al Ain Zoo in 2025. Earlier this year, the institution was accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), one of the most prestigious global benchmarks in the zoological sector.
As one of the UAE’s leading educational tourism destinations, Al Ain Zoo continues to focus on discovery-driven learning experiences while upholding the highest global standards in animal care and environmental management.
