
New Delhi, March 13: The Delhi Police have apprehended a notorious criminal involved in approximately 15 cases, including theft and violations of the Arms Act, in the Hari Nagar area of West Delhi.
According to the Hari Nagar police, the team has been conducting regular patrols to curb rising vehicle thefts and street crimes in the locality. On Wednesday night at 9:10 PM, during a routine patrol near the Khatu Shyam Stadium on Shaheed Major Rajeev Lal Marg, Constable Manish spotted an individual riding a grey scooter. Upon noticing the police, the scooter rider attempted to turn back and flee, raising suspicion among the officers.
Constable Manish promptly pursued the suspect and apprehended him shortly after. During interrogation, the individual identified himself as Sagar alias Nepali, a 29-year-old resident of Naraina village, Delhi. A search revealed an illegal button knife and a mobile phone in his possession.
Further investigation into the scooter’s registration number revealed that it had been stolen from Subhash Place. Additionally, the recovered mobile phone was linked to a reported theft case at the Hari Nagar police station.
Head Constable Somveer arrived at the scene to complete the necessary legal formalities. Subsequently, a case was registered under the Arms Act at the Hari Nagar police station. During questioning, the accused disclosed that he was en route to sell the stolen scooter and mobile phone in the Mayapuri scrap market. This operation was conducted by a team led by Inspector Ashu Girotra, SHO of Hari Nagar, along with SI Anoop Rana and Constable Manish. Police officials confirmed that further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
