Udaipur, April 10: The audacity of thieves in Udaipur is on the rise, with a recent incident highlighting the growing concern among residents. The latest theft occurred in the Silawat Wadi area, near the mosque, where burglars targeted an unoccupied house.
According to reports, the burglary took place on Wednesday night around 8 PM, during a time when normal activities were ongoing in the neighborhood. Despite this, the thieves managed to break the lock on the main gate and entered the house, thoroughly searching the premises.
The victim, Irshad Khan, son of Shahid Khan, reported that the thieves made off with approximately 35 tolas of gold and around ₹20 lakh in cash, which were stored in a wardrobe on the third floor. At the time of the incident, the entire family was attending a social event hosted by a relative.
When the family returned late at night, they found the main gate’s lock broken. Upon entering, they discovered the rooms in disarray, with items scattered and wardrobes left open, leaving them in shock.
Local police from the Ghantaghar station arrived at the scene after being informed of the incident and began assessing the situation. Irshad Khan mentioned that the stolen gold belonged to all four brothers, while the cash represented their hard-earned savings.
The police have registered a case and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras in an effort to track down the culprits. The increasing number of thefts in the area has created a sense of fear among local residents.
