Diwali travel tussle: huge crowd in both rail and bus

Jaipur, October 18 (Udaipur Kiran News). Eager to reach home on Diwali, huge crowds of passengers have gathered at bus terminals and railway stations. The seats in the buses running from Jaipur to various districts and states are full, while the waiting list in many trains has crossed 100.

Running safe services has become a big challenge for both roadways and railway administrations at this time. According to the Roadways Headquarters, thousands of passengers are demanding additional buses every day during the festive season. In view of the increasing number of passengers, roadways have planned to operate additional buses on some major routes, but this arrangement is also proving inadequate in front of the crowd.

There are long queues at the ticket counters at Jaipur Sindhi Camp and other bus stands. Many passengers have to travel standing or in private vehicles at double fare.

Operation of additional buses for here

Seeing the rush of people traveling by bus, Rajasthan Roadways has started operating additional buses on many routes from Jaipur to Delhi including Delhi, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, Udaipur, Sikar, Bhilwara and Ganganagar. In view of the increasing number of passengers, control rooms and additional ticket counters have also been built at major bus stands.

Huge crowd of passengers gathered at Jaipur Junction

As Diwali approaches, the rush of people returning home has made it challenging at railway stations. On Saturday, about one and a half times more passenger load was seen at Jaipur Junction compared to normal days. Due to long queues of passengers and heavy crowd on the platforms, the staff had to make additional arrangements.

According to railway officials, the waiting list in almost all the trains going from Jaipur to Delhi, Kota, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Sikar and Mumbai has crossed 100. Passengers are trying to reach home somehow.

In view of the festive season, the North Western Railway administration has announced to start special trains on many routes, so that the passengers can get relief. Despite this, the pressure of the crowd is not reducing.

Additional teams of Railway Protection Force and GRP have been deployed at the station so that there is no problem in passenger safety and crowd management.
