BID, 30 January – A Fake Facebook Account has been created in the name of former minister Dhananjay Munde, posting objectionable content on social media. Following this, an official complaint has been lodged at the Bid Cyber Police Station on behalf of Dhananjay Munde. After the complaint, strict legal action is being prepared against the operator of the fake account. The cyber police will not only register a case but also impose a ban and initiate arrest proceedings against the person involved.
Dhananjay Munde is known to be very active on social media. Taking advantage of this, an unknown individual created a fake Facebook account in his name and posted misleading and objectionable content. Taking the matter seriously, on Munde’s advice, his personal assistant and Private Public Relations Officer Sudarshan (Sudhir) Sangale filed the complaint with the Bid Cyber Police. Police Inspector Nilesh Kele of the Cyber Police Station is investigating the case. He clarified that creating fake accounts in the name of public representatives and defaming them through such platforms is a serious offence under the IT Act and Indian Penal Code. A case will be registered against the unknown account holder under relevant sections and immediate legal action will follow.
Dhananjay Munde has also contacted Bid Superintendent of Police Navneet Kavat regarding the matter. SP Kavat assured that the accused will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken. In the complaint, Sudarshan Sangale clearly stated that the Facebook account operating in Dhananjay Munde’s name is completely fake and was deliberately created to damage his image. Neither Munde nor his office has any connection with the account or any posts made there. Full responsibility for the objectionable posts lies with the fake account operator.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that a person named Shelke is operating the said Facebook account. However, the cyber police are verifying this information and are engaged in further technical investigations.
The office of Dhananjay Munde has issued a clear warning that anyone misusing his name by running fake accounts or posting objectionable content will face legal consequences. All such individuals are urged to immediately remove fake posts and shut down the accounts; otherwise, strict action will be taken against them under the IT Act.
