The police recovered a stolen motorcycle, cash amounting to ₹28,150, stolen jewellery, and a knife used in the crimes. This operation led to the breakthrough of five criminal cases.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sher Singh, a resident of Dwarkapuri, Sudama Nagar, Indore, Madhya Pradesh; Harmendra, from a slum area in Badwas, Udaipur, Rajasthan; and 39-year-old Manjeet, also from the slums of Bedwas, Post Office Debrai, Udaipur, Rajasthan.
On the morning of 26 January at around 8:14 am, the Sarojini Nagar police station received a PCR call reporting an attempted robbery near Anant Ram Dairy in Sector-13, RK Puram, where the assailants threatened with a knife. Taking the matter seriously, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) immediately.
Inspector Atul Tyagi, SHO of Sarojini Nagar, formed a special team to investigate the case. The team included SI Deepak Loyal, Head Constable Pankaj, Amarjeet, Pushpendra, Raghuveer, Ajit, Mainpal, and Constables INDIA Solanki and Mahesh. Under the supervision of ACP Safdarjung Enclave, the team conducted extensive fieldwork, collected local information, and analysed footage from over 100 CCTV cameras. This led to the identification and arrest of the three accused.
During interrogation, Manjeet Singh revealed that he is originally from Udaipur and works as a locksmith, a traditional family profession. He often visits Delhi for religious purposes. On 24 January, he came to Delhi with his brother-in-law Sher Singh and associate Harmendra. The trio stayed at Gurudwaras Bangla Sahib and Chandni Chowk.
The accused admitted to being addicted to drugs, spending around ₹7,000 to ₹8,000 daily. Due to financial constraints, they planned the robberies. They stole a motorcycle from Shakarpur and jewellery from a house in Laxmi Nagar.
On the morning of 26 January at about 5 am, near Ambedkar Park in South Campus, they attempted to rob a woman at knifepoint. The woman raised an alarm, forcing them to flee. Later, at ARD Complex, they targeted a biker. Harmendra threatened the victim with a knife while Manjeet searched his pockets, and Sher Singh took the motorcycle keys. The victim struck them with a helmet, causing the trio to run away. Due to heavy police deployment during Republic Day, they abandoned further attempts. However, while planning more robberies in Netaji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar, the police arrested them.
According to the police, Sher Singh has prior involvement in three criminal cases, Manjeet has six previous cases registered against him, and Harmendra has two earlier cases. Their arrest has helped solve five cases across Sarojini Nagar, South Campus, Laxmi Nagar, and Shakarpur police station areas.
