Jaipur, 21 October (Patrika English News ). The ‘New vidhan-Identity of Justice’ exhibition organized at JECC, Sitapura successfully concluded with a grand ceremony on Tuesday evening. In this 8-day exhibition, the nuances of the new criminal laws were conveyed to the public through modern police innovations. The total digital and physical reach of the exhibition exceeded 1.8 crores, reflecting its historic success.

Minister of state for home Jawahar Singh Bedham was the chief guest at the function and along with him the special guest was Additional Chief Secretary Home Bhaskar A. Sawant and Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma along with Director General Anand Srivastava Sanjay Agarwal, Malini Agarwal, Director RPA and Additional Director General of Police S. Sengathir and other senior officers were present.

Access to justice and tough crackdown on crime

Chief guest Jawahar Singh Bedham said that the new laws have brought ease and timeliness in providing justice, due to which there has been a huge reduction in the graph of crimes. He stressed that after assuming office of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the priority was to make Rajasthan crime free and strict action should be taken against the criminals. Bedham congratulated the entire team of Rajasthan Police that they have launched an effective attack against crime by upgrading the system. Bedham said that the new law emphasizes on technical evidence, which will reduce the chances of witnesses turning hostile. He expressed confidence that when evidence becomes available digitally, criminals will be punished severely and no criminal will be able to escape now.

Emphasis on technology, connectivity and monitoring

Special guest Bhaskar A. Sawant said that technology, connectivity and hardware upgrades are necessary to establish a streamlined criminal justice system, in which UITs have an important role. He described the police as the biggest pillar of the criminal justice system and assured that the proposals to strengthen the system will be given top priority. Sawant stressed the need for monitoring, for which there should be a simple dashboard at the state and district level to ensure the effectiveness of the mechanism.

The biggest change and new beginning of the century

Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma described the exhibition as the biggest change of the century, which is replacing the colonial law and giving the country laws made by its own people. He said that this exhibition reflects the thinking behind this change. The DGP praised the policemen for understanding the nuances of the new law by connecting through online medium. He stressed that this is not an end but a new beginning, in which the police will use transparency and technology to ensure speedy and better justice to the people. Sharma reiterated the pledge of ‘commitment to the service of Rajasthan Police’.

In the beginning, RPA Director ADGP S Sengathir gave the welcome address and explained about the theme and achievements of the exhibition.

The ‘New Legislation – Identity of Justice’ exhibition organized at JECC Sitapura became a successful platform to convey the understanding of the three new criminal laws implemented in the country to the public through modern police innovations. In which record-breaking participation of more than 1.67 crore people was recorded through physical and online medium.

Additional Director General of Police and Director of Rajasthan Police Academy S. Sengathir’s exhibition was inaugurated by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah at JECC on October 13. 15 thousand people participated physically and 1.25 lakh people participated in the inauguration ceremony online.

About 58 thousand people physically visited Sengathir in the main exhibition that lasted for eight days (from October 14 to October 21). It included representatives of 14,000 educational institutions, 13,200 business-social groups and government employees, 2,700 CLG-Suraksha Sakhi members and 11,800 policemen. The importance of the exhibition can be gauged from the fact that 550 special guests including 22 High Court Judges, 140 APPs/Lawyers and 170 doctors visited it.

The reach of the exhibition was not limited to the physical premises only, but it also created a stir on social media platforms. A total of 200 posts were made from different handles, which garnered more than 16.7 million (1.67 crore) views. These include 7 million views on Instagram, 5.2 million on Facebook, 2.8 million on Twitter and 1.7 million on YouTube, which shows its widespread success.

A major attraction of the exhibition was the modern police technology and simulators, which gave the visitors a first-hand experience of police training. Both policemen and common people were very enthusiastic about the use of these devices. About 16 thousand people practiced on the firing simulator, while about 8 thousand people experienced the vehicle simulator. Apart from this, 18 thousand people participated in quiz competitions related to police functioning.
