Handloom and handicraft sellers from different states of the country will gather in Bikaner from 11.

Bikaner, 10 October (Patrika English News ). Before Diwali, handloom and handicraft vendors from different states of the country will gather in Bikaner. The occasion will be the Handloom and Handicraft Expo to be organized at Gramin Haat located in Jayanarayan Vyas Colony from 11 to 18 October under the joint auspices of the District Administration and Bikaner Development Authority on the initiative of District Collector and Bikaner Development Authority Chairperson Namrata Vrishni.

Vrishni said that various products of traditional handloom and handicrafts from 15 states including Bikaner and various districts of Rajasthan will be displayed and sold in the expo. The expo will be inaugurated on October 11 at 5 pm. After the inauguration, the timing of the expo will be from 11 am to 9 pm.

The expo will have leather puppets from Andhra Pradesh, Madhubani and Bhagalpur sarees from Bihar, Kunbi, Korshia from Goa, Ajrakh, metal and Bandhani from Gujarat, organic food from Himachal, Gond art and Bagh print from Madhya Pradesh, Patachitra, Pedi straw art from Odisha, wooden lamps from Uttar Pradesh, handloom Banarasi sarees and Various products like chikankari, jute and kantha prints from West Bengal will be the center of attraction. Apart from this, stalls of paper mache, terracotta and panja carpets from Rajasthan will be set up.

Bikaner Development Authority Commissioner Aparna Gupta said that the Handloom and Handicraft Expo is being organized keeping in mind ‘Vocal for Local’. Artisans and artists from different states will also participate in it. The aim of the expo is to provide a platform to handloom weavers and artisans to market their products to consumers. This exhibition will be important in establishing a connect between weavers/artisans and consumers. He has said that more and more people should be motivated to participate in the expo.

District Collector Namrata Vrishni, Superintendent of Police Kavendra Sagar, Bikaner Development Authority Commissioner Aparna Gupta, Subdivision Officer Mahima Kasana and Additional Collector Nagar Ramesh Dev released the flex of Handloom and Handicraft Expo.
