Health Department Issues Heatwave Alert in Udaipur

Udaipur, April 14: The Health department has issued an alert as temperatures across Udaipur and the surrounding region have exceeded 40 degrees Celsius. In light of the rising heat and the potential threat of a Heatwave, the Medical and Health Department is taking proactive measures.
Joint Director Prakash Sharma has instructed all medical institutions in the division to remain vigilant and ensure necessary arrangements are in place to effectively handle any emergencies.
Increased Preparations in Hospitals
The Meteorological Department has declared an alert, warning of a rise in cases of heatstroke and heat exhaustion due to the continuous increase in temperatures. In response, all hospitals and health centers in the division have completed essential preparations. Instructions have been issued to ensure that water coolers, fans, coolers, and air conditioners are functioning properly. Adequate arrangements for shaded waiting areas and cold drinking water have been made for patients visiting outpatient departments.
A sufficient stock of necessary medications and IV fluids for treating heatstroke has been maintained, and special beds and wards have been reserved if needed. Additionally, extra medical teams have been deployed in high-risk areas, and ambulance services (108-104) are on alert mode.
Advisory for the Public
The health department has released an advisory urging the public to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and ORS, cover their heads when going out in the sun, and wear light cotton clothing. People are advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities between 12 PM and 4 PM, refrain from going out on an empty stomach, and limit excessive consumption of tea, coffee, or alcoholic beverages.
Seek Immediate Treatment for Symptoms
Individuals experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, high fever, vomiting, fainting, or extreme weakness should contact the nearest health center immediately. The department has appealed to the public to exercise caution and follow administrative guidelines to stay safe from the heatwave threat.
