New Delhi, September 13 (Patrika English News): After cutting around 15,000 jobs since May, Microsoft has now announced a new Return-to-Office (RTO) policy. From February 2026, employees will be required to attend office at least three days a week.

Until now, Microsoft allowed flexible remote work, but the company has begun enforcing its RTO rules more strictly in recent weeks. The new policy will first take effect at Microsoft’s Puget Sound campus in Redmond, Washington, and will gradually expand across the U.S. and then to offices worldwide.
Chief People Officer Amy Coleman, in a company memo, said: “The data is clear — when people come together, they shine brighter, become stronger, and deliver better results.”
Key Points of the New Policy:
-
Every employee must be in office at least three days a week.
-
Managers and teams will decide which specific days employees need to attend.
-
Remaining days can be worked in a hybrid format (from home or office).
-
Microsoft calls this a “Culture-First Approach”, aimed at boosting collaboration, innovation, and project speed in the AI era.
The company believes that while remote work has benefits, extended work-from-home setups slow down creativity and team flow. With this balanced hybrid model, Microsoft expects to bring back the “real magic” of in-person teamwork.
