Dungarpur, April 11: The newly constructed boys’ hostel building in Obari, Dungarpur district, has come under scrutiny due to serious structural flaws. The building, which cost ₹66 lakh, has developed cracks just months after its completion. In response, the state’s Minister for Tribal Area Development, Babulal Kharadi, has taken a firm stance and ordered a high-level investigation into the matter.
During his visit, Minister Kharadi emphasized that there will be no compromise on the safety and future of the children. He made it clear that if the investigation reveals substandard construction, recovery will be sought from the responsible contractors and officials, along with strict disciplinary action.
Hidden Flaws Covered Up
According to reports, the hostel was constructed by Shri Vinayak Construction through the Rajasthan State Agricultural Marketing Board. Shortly after completion, deep cracks appeared in four of the building’s rooms. Allegations have surfaced that instead of making necessary repairs, the contractor attempted to cover up the flaws.
Questions Raised on Accountability
The lack of a clear complaint process at the local level has left the public uninformed, allowing responsible officials to evade accountability.
