
Udaipur, April 5: Chief Engineer Devi Singh Beniwal conducted an inspection of the construction works for the Devass Third and Fourth projects on Saturday, as part of a special inspection campaign by the Water Resources Department. The progress and quality of the proposed tunnel construction from the Devass Third Dam to the Akodara Dam were reviewed during this inspection.
The Chief Engineer stated that the completion of these projects will meet the long-term drinking water needs of Udaipur city. Additionally, it will help maintain the water levels of lakes such as Pichola, Swaroop Sagar, and Fateh Sagar, thereby strengthening tourism and environmental balance.
The project includes the construction of the Devass Third Dam with a capacity of 703 MCF, located near Nathiathal village, and a 10.50 km long tunnel that will connect to the Akodara Dam. Furthermore, a 390 MCF capacity Devass Fourth Dam and a 4.15 km long tunnel will be constructed in the Ambawa area.
During the inspection, officials reported that forest land approval has been obtained and compensation distribution under land acquisition has commenced. The Chief Engineer emphasized the importance of focusing on the rehabilitation of affected families, safety standards, and quality.
