Imphal, April 3: In a significant operation on Friday, Manipur police and Security Forces conducted active raids across various regions of the state, resulting in the destruction of three bunkers and the recovery of a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and other suspicious materials.
Initially, security forces recovered a pistol, three cartridges, a single-barrel gun, a hand grenade, five cartridges, and a blank round from the Upokpi Khunou Mamang Leikai and surrounding areas near Loktak Lake in Bishnupur district.
On the same day, in the Satang Hill range of Imphal East district, security forces destroyed three bunkers as part of efforts to enhance security and curb illegal activities in the region. Additionally, approximately 3.5 kilograms of WY tablets were seized from the Home Guard Veng area in Moreh PS of Tengnoupal district.
In Churachandpur district, security forces recovered a substantial amount of arms and ammunition, including two 12-bore rifles, two front-loaded single-barrel rifles, a modified AK-47, two 9mm pistols, three magazines for different weapons, four pump-action guns, 81 cartridges, two bulletproof jackets, two walkie-talkies, and one kilogram of pump explosive pellets.
The security forces have continued their operations to maintain regional dominance and conduct searches in the hill and valley areas of the state. During this period, the movement of 290 vehicles carrying essential goods was ensured on NH-37, along with the provision of security convoys at sensitive locations.
A total of 116 checkpoints were established across the state, covering both hill and valley regions. However, no vehicles or individuals were stopped at these checkpoints. Such measures not only helped control illegal activities but also ensured the safe movement of citizens and essential goods.
Security forces are actively monitoring and conducting search operations in fringe and sensitive areas of the state. The primary objectives of these operations include the recovery of illegal weapons and ammunition, maintaining law and order in the region, and ensuring the safety of the general public.
