Patna, April 2: A sudden outbreak of chaos occurred in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, on Wednesday evening, as a large crowd gathered for a livestock fair, leading to a stampede-like situation. This incident unfolded just before the performance of popular Bhojpuri singer Khesari Lal Yadav, as fans eagerly awaited his arrival. The crowd swelled to such an extent that the situation quickly spiraled out of control, creating an atmosphere of fear among the attendees.
The incident took place in the Garha police station area of the Aurai block, where former minister Ram Surat Rai had organized the livestock fair. Thousands of people were already present at the event, and as time passed, the crowd continued to grow, overwhelming the existing arrangements.
According to local residents, news spread that Khesari Lal Yadav was about to arrive, prompting thousands to rush towards the stage. This led to a frantic scramble to catch a glimpse of the singer, resulting in a chaotic scene. To restore order, police were compelled to resort to lathi charge.
Eyewitnesses reported that during the chaos, several individuals fell and sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, there has been no official confirmation of any serious injuries. Many attendees described the situation as extremely frightening for a brief period.
The incident also impacted the event itself, as the stage area was cleared before Khesari Lal Yadav’s performance could begin. Some spectators left in fear, while others chose to wait for the situation to normalize.
Local residents have criticized the inadequate security and crowd management measures in place for such a large gathering. They claim that the organizers failed to accurately gauge the crowd size, which contributed to the ensuing chaos.
