Transport department collected revenue of Rs 5 crore from heavy vehicles, amount was outstanding

Chittorgarh Transport Department has got great success after being strict in the matter of recovery of dues. revenue of about Rs 5 crore has been collected from heavy vehicles. During document verification, it was revealed that there was arrears of revenue from the registered vehicles. In such a situation, a campaign was conducted to identify vehicles with outstanding revenue and make recovery. This has increased the revenue income of the department.

District Transport Officer NS Shah said that there was arrear of revenue for a long time in the heavy vehicles registered in Chittorgarh district. After receiving this information, a list of such vehicles was prepared. On the instructions of the Transport Commissioner, a campaign was launched for 100 percent recovery of outstanding heavy vehicles registered in the district. From the list prepared by the Transport Department, Rs 4 crore 80 lakh was recovered from the outstanding balance of 900 heavy vehicles. At the same time, registration certificates of many vehicles have been suspended in such cases. The District Transport Officer said that there was a backlog of vehicles for a long time. In such a situation, on the instructions of higher officials, a list of such vehicles was made and the vehicle owners were contacted and strict action was taken. Due to this, the department collected revenue of Rs 4 crore 80 lakh. This campaign will be continued by the department in the coming days. The registration certificates of vehicle owners who do not deposit the amount will be cancelled. Besides, action will also be taken to confiscate the vehicles.

There was a backlog of about six thousand vehicles

District Transport Officer said that efforts are being made to recover 100% of the registered outstanding heavy vehicles. According to the list made in the department, 5875 vehicles were found which were outstanding. These vehicle owners were also contacted. After persuasion, he was asked to collect the revenue. Revenue was collected from this. However, about thousand heavy vehicles are registered with the Chittorgarh Transport Officer’s office.

Registration certificates of 2800 vehicles suspended

District Transport Officer said that the department has also adopted strictness regarding recovery. Registration certificates of 2793 vehicles were suspended in such cases. The vehicles which did not have valid fitness and tax had not been deposited for a long time were suspended. Despite giving notice to them, no explanation was presented by the vehicle owner in the transport office even after a month. District Family Officer said that vehicle owners who live in other states around Chittorgarh have also started depositing the outstanding tax of vehicles. The work is being done only after stopping the documents being presented in the office by the vehicle owner from outside and depositing the penalty in the outstanding tax. In future too, this action is to be taken by the Transport and Road Safety Department till March 2025-26.

Notice to 68 transport companies, recovery of Rs 2.5 crore

District Transport Officer said that a meeting related to revenue generation is being held every week by District Collector Chittorgarh Alok Ranjan. As per the instructions given in this, the bank accounts of the defaulting transport companies have been temporarily closed by the GST Department after issuing a notice. Of these, revenue of Rs 2 crore 48 lakh is to be received from about 490 vehicles of 68 transport companies.

Annual target will also be met

District Transport Officer said that the department has given instructions to achieve the revenue target of Rs 296 crore in the financial year 2025-26. An action plan has also been prepared in this regard. Against the target of Rs 96 crore allotted till September 2025, revenue of Rs 82 crore has been achieved so far. Revenue of Rs 214 crore will be collected in the remaining six months.
